Yes, but it's much simpler to store the documents as files on disk and
have the database contain just their names, locations and any other
information. A good place to start is with the DocMgr sample database at http://www.datastrat.com/DataStrat2.html
Perhaps I'm not asking my question correctly - I have a list of names and
account numbers to add to the database. Can it be scanned into Access
instead of typing each entry?
Access can't scan things directly. But you can use your scanner and its OCR
software to create a text file containing the names and account numbers, and
then import that into Access.
If possible, create it as a tab-delimited or CSV file, which (with a bit of
luck) Access will be able to import directly. Otherwise, the OCR software
may be able to scan the document into Excel format, which Access can also
import.
You may need to edit the scanned file to get rid of various glitches from
the OCR process before it will import cleanly.
