Make sure you have send authentication enabled.
Go to Tools, Accounts, select that account, Properties, Servers.
The box for "My server requires authentication must be checked.

I have tried changing to that setting and now get the error listed below.
Any other suggestions? Thanks for your help.

The ohiou.edu mail server is detecting that you are connecting from
a location that is not on-campus, which is why it is rejecting the
connection request. Are you sending from home? Talk to the university's
IT department to see if they have a fix. If not, you have two workarounds:

a) send via webmail (using your browser).
(b) substitute the SMTP server associated with your current connection
(home ISP?).

Thanks- Yes- I am sending from home. I am not on the campus but use OU for
all my personal email now. I assume the home ISP would be who I have my
internet connection with (we have satellite) - I have not set up that
addresss though- as I was trying to not have any more email addresses to deal
with. Altough it sounds like I might have to - if I use the OU email. I have
a work account that lets me send/receive through its address and I have not
had any problems with that one.
So webmail would be like google or yahoo? I know - dumb questions- but I
just not talk "computer" lingo enough. Thanks again-- for such a simple
question--

Good to hear. I was pretty sure that talking to the university's
IT department would produce a fix. They've run across the same
scenario thousands of times.
