Can not send any e-mails

I keep getting this error message:

The message could not be sent. The authentication setting might not be
correct for your outgoing e-mail [SMTP] server. For help solving this
problem, go to Help, search for "Troubleshoot Windows Mail", and read the
"I'm having problems sending e-mail" section. If you need help determining
the proper server settings, please contact your e-mail service provider.

The rejected e-mail address was '(e-mail address removed)'. Subject 'Fw: Your
Online Booking', Account: 'btinternet', Server: 'smtp.btinternet.com',
Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '530 authentication required - Your email
could not be sent. To fix this you must make a simple change to your email
(known as SMTP authentication). For advice visit www.btyahoo.com/smtp', Port:
25, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 530, Error Number: 0x800CCC78

Sorry still no joy, what am I doing wrong.

It's a different error number but could it be related to the unannounced
change by BT which disallowed 'from' addresses other than your default
address - see
http://www.beta.bt.com/bta/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=2939&tstart=0

I believe that change was reverted but they might be tinkering again. I
don't use BTYahoo for mail but there is a link in that announcement to
the 'verification' process and also one onward from the link
www.btyahoo.com/smtp within the error message you quote.
