Can not delete a file

I'm trying to help a neighbor who knows just enough to be
dangerous. She created a folder in My documents and it
contains many sub folders/files she created. There are 2
empty folders there (she created both using rt click new
etc) that can not be deleted. clicking rt or left on one
of them makes it disappear (it returns the next time my
documents is opened) and trying to delete the other
results in the pop up error "error deleting file or
folder cannot delete file. Cannot read from the source
file or disc." I have to add she has a habit of moving
files/folders around without apparent regard for where
they were or going, just to get them out of her way where
they were. Any suggesestions?

Try booting in safe mode and delete there.
