Can not connect to shared drive after Windows Update

My laptop is setup to connect to the shared drive in our office server. At
home, I connect to the office thru VPN an access the shared drives at the
office server. This was working perfectly until I installed the Automatic
Windows Update.

My Outlook did not work until I found out that I can lower the security to
NTLM. I can't find a resolution with regards to the shared drive connection.

It ask for a user name and password but it seemingly can not authenticate
the user name and password. The same user name and password I used in the
office and it works fine.

Any help is greatly appreciated ...

I am assuming that the office computer is joined to a domain and that -
perhaps - your laptop is not.
What that means is you need to enter your username with the domain
information included...

For example, if it is the "CompnayName" domain you log into at work, your
username could be entered as:

CompanyName\username

Now if you happen to have a local account on said work computer - you can do
without the domain in your username.

Shenan,

It will not always give me the opportunity to enter the username and
password, most of the time is just an hour glass. Here's what I observed:

Thru remote desktop I reset my user account password in the office server
different than what I currently logon in the remote laptop. When I mapped the
network drive - the username and password will pop-up, entering the recently
changed password (which different now when I started my laptop) the
connection is so quick.

However, when I logoff from my laptop and initiate a newr VPN connection, I
have to use the new password thus starting the problem cycle of not
connecting to the shared drive.

To be able to connect to the shared drives I have to remote desktop the
domain controller in the office reset the password that should be different
than what I logon on my laptop.

Thanks for taking time ... I hope the above can give you a clue what is
going on.
