installing an English version
of Vista would erase another version of it of a different language
With Windows and with VISTA being new it's hard to predict but my
opinion is that if you just put the English version in and told it to
install it would give you a warning and ask if you wanted to "destroy"
the existing installation. If you said Yes it would go ahead and do
that.
But it might ask you if you wanted to make a second parallel
installation and give you the choice of which you go to when you boot
up the computer.
When I installed VISTA Business on my XP computer I had and a second
empty hard drive and I told VISTA to install there. It did this, did
not destroy XP and set up a Boot Menu for me to choose which I wanted
when I turned on the computer.
That was a trial installation of VISTA and I have since replaced that
with a final installation of VISTA ULTIMATE and in that case because I
wanted to avoid the bother of reinstalling the applications I had
already installed to see if they would work OK under VISTA before
committing myself I used the Full Retail copy of VISTA to upgrade the
Business version to the Ultimate and again it did that and did not
affect the XP installation.
What I cannot say is what installing an English language VISTA on a
machine with only another language version of VISTA will do -- nor
whether it depends on the versions involved if they are the same or
different -- eg English VIsta Home Premium when Korean VISTA Home
premium is there.
There are certainly ways to force a dual boot if you have plenty of
drive space and want to be able to use both versions.
Hang around and see what others may say about this since I'm not an
expert, just a user with some experience but no expert.
