Can I retrieve old email and address book

My system crashed Friday, and had to reinstall a new system folder
(Macintosh, 9.2). Outlook Express is gone along with years of clients emails
and addresses. Is there any way I can retrieve them. I still have the
original system folder on my desktop, but I have no idea how to look for
them????????? HELP. any chance of getting anything back.

The only thing I lost in the crash was all of the stuff from Outlook
Express.
