Can I do an upgrade from the full version CD?

I currently have Windows 98 running on my machine and have misplaced my 98 install disk during a move. I'm thinking of purchasing the full version to cover me if I have to reinstall the operating system. Can I upgrade using the full version the first time or must it be a clean install when you use the full version?

Hi, As long as you purchase a "Retail Full Version" you can use it to either
upgrade or do a clean install.

Yes. Full retail versions can perform an upgrade or a clean install.

A Full version can do either an upgrade or a clean installation.

However, be sure you actually purchase a Full version and not an
OEM version, which many people confuse with the Full version. An
OEM version can *not* do an upgrade.
