Camcorder not recognised through Firewire

T

Tim

Hi all.
Have got probs getting firewire to recognise a camcorder.
Have tried 2 so far (Panasonic NV ds 33, and a Sony
HAndycam) and no joy. Have tried the Microsoft Helpsite
and it lists 2 hotfixes, one that is "not available"
(329256)and the other has no effect(810032). I have
Windows XP Home and a new computer, well capable of
handling it all!
Seems like loads of people have a similar problem but i
don't see any messages solving the difficulty!
Any answers please?

What software are you using? Premiere, Avid DV Xpress, Ulead? Each has a different way of setting up the peripheral for software control of the deck.

.
Not using any other than Windows Moviemaker yet, but it
should come up on My Computer, I would have thought.
HAng on, I've got Intervideo WinDVD Creator, that allows
capture as well.
