California Associates eTrust?

H

Hymer

Hello,

I have been using California Associates eTrust AV because of its small
footprint and ease of use.

What is the thinking about how good it is at virus detection and
removal?

Thanks,

Bob

1. It's Computer Associates (minor point)
2. If your computer behavior isn't high risk, it's probably adequate
protection.

It's now known only as CA (formerly known as Computer Associates), kind
of like when Prince was known only as a symbol. :)

Sorry for the brain freeze on the name. How do you think AGP or Avast
compares to CA eTrust? Are the free versions as good as CA?

Thanks,

Bob

My opinion on AVG or is do I think AGP is really AVG ?

My opinion on AVG is better than Avast. Especially in light of a problem Avast had with the
False Positive of the VBS:Zulu when a user used Avast under Windows XP with IE7. This False
Positive lasted for ~60 days!

I did mean the former, but appreciate the info on the latter. My EZ
Trust comes up for renewal in August and already they have offered me a
*totally free AV 7 with a 2 gig jump drive*......only problem is that
the rebate is American!!! And I have a 2 gig jump drive.

American??? Wot the hell.....and CA used to be a *down under company*
which once was part of the British Empire!!!

Oh well......part of the penalty we pay for living in G*d's country,
grin.

Heather (and I do hope no one takes me seriously....lol)

CA used be Australian ?

I think you are confused. Computer Associates has always been a US company based on Long
Island NY. They have a business model line Symantec in how they buy smaller companies and
fold them into their product line. On such product was the Australian Vet AV software. Now
it is part of the CA line of products.

You are about 95% right.....I was thinking VET because InoculateIT PE
was VET and it morphed into Computer Associates. Getting old is a
bitch, lol.
