V14.5 is now available for download from:

http://www.stokepoges.plus.com

and, within a few days, from:

http://www.simtel.net/pub/dl/55320.shtml

New features and bug fixes are listed below.

Enjoy!

When object attribute values are calculated in the geometry calculator,
the colour of label text associated with input data now changes to
yellow, in order to distinguish more clearly between data input and
calculated results.

Added segments of a circle to the list of 2D objects in the geometry
calculator.

Added cuboids (box shapes) to the list of 3D objects in the geometry
calculator.

Updated and corrected observed day information for France.

Added additional observed day information for Thailand in 2005.

Added dates of Mothers' Day and Fathers' Day for a few more countries.

Added International Elephant Day (March 13) to list of observed days.

Added Planck length and Planck time units to appropriate categories in
the unit converter.

Added Russian mils to plane angle units in unit converter.

Updated Commonwealth Games, European Athletics Championships and World
Athletic Championships data.

Pressing the Reminders by Month command button now displays the current
month, even when no reminders have yet been defined, enabling all
reminders to be set by the "double-clicking" method.

Associated "access keys" (Alt-letter key combinations) with the various
command buttons in the time and geometry calculators.

In the geometry calculator, when more than one solution exists, the
message in the Status Display now highlights the fact.

Improved the calculation of the attributes of rectangles with very large
equal heights and lengths.

Fixed bug related to the recalculation of "greyed out" results, after
existing attribute values are edited, for ellipses, frusta of cones and
frusta of pyramids on square bases.

Corrected Daylight Saving Time (DST) beginning and ending dates for
Israel in 2004.

Changed date of Al-Naqba from May 14 to May 15.

I understand it's quite an important event in some Asian countries.

There appears to be two Doctors' Days, one in the USA celebrated on
March 30 and one world-wide (?) celebrated on July 1. Does anyone agree
or disagree?

Added International Elephant Day (March 13) to list of observed days.

Observed in Antarctica too I see!

Oh, I forgot to untick that little box 'Include observed days common to
many countries'. :))

Great fun looking through those lists.

Cheers,

Roy

Hi Alex,

Well done. As always. :)

Added segments of a circle to the list of 2D objects in the geometry
calculator.

< snip >

Where is the pentagram info ? :)

Where is the T.V. info ?

Eg. if one has a 4/3 T.V. with 56cm base what is the diagonal ?

or

If one has a diagonal of 68cm with a 9/16 widescreen T.V. what would
the base length be ?

Once one has selected 4/3 OR 16/9 one should only need to input one
measurement to get the other two eg. base length, height or diagonal.

Regards, John.

Hi John,

Good suggestions.

I'll add the TV screen calculation to V14.6.

With regard to pentagrams, which attributes do you consider important
and are there other star polygons worthy of consideration?

Also, would you like to act as a beta tester for anything I add in these
two areas?

With best wishes,

Alex

Hi Alex,

I'll add the TV screen calculation to V14.6.

Great ! In Australia we are in the very slow process of changing from
4/3 to 16/9 T.V.s so I think it might be of huge interest to a lot of
people. Probably elsewhere too.

You could even consider some "pre-sets" eg.

68 cm 4/3 =

Widescreen 16/9 ;

76cm =

86cm =

107cm =
With regard to pentagrams, which attributes do you consider important

Well, perhaps a "stars" option ? For five pointed stars, six pointed
stars etc. ?

Insert the number of star "points", the diameter of a circle that
touched all points, and get the ;

Straight line distance (on the circle) between one point and the next
one ?

Internal angle of points, in degrees ?

Area ?

Vertical height from a horizontal line made between the two lowest
points to the single highest point ?
Also, would you like to act as a beta tester for anything I add in these
two areas?

Sure. :)
With best wishes,

Regards, John.
