Hello Steve,
Thank you for your feedback; your suggestions are appreciated.
Actually, licensing issues are a bit complicated because many factors need
to be considered. In order to clarify everything, we generally recommend
our customers who need licensing information to contact Customer Service
and speak to a licensing specialist.
In the meantime, the following websites contain much useful licensing
information:
Frequently asked questions (FAQ) about Microsoft licensing programs
http://www.microsoft.com/licensing/resources/faq.asp
http://www.microsoft.com/licensing/Default.asp
I hope this helps.
Steve, your valuable feedback will be reported to the related departments.
In fact, we at Microsoft are always striving to capture any feedback from
our customers and partners so as to ensure that we are continuously
developing products and services that meet our customer needs. This is
exactly why feedback such as yours is always taken very seriously.
If you have any further concerns, please do not hesitate to let me know.
Again, thanks for using Microsoft News Groups, and have a great day!
Regards,
Joe Wu

|
|I am in exactly the same situation as you, my CDW licensing rep today
|told me you do need to buy new CALs for Windows 2003, and at over $40
|per CAL, CAL cost becomes a pretty big factor in upgrading or not. He
|also mentioned that Microsoft no longer has CAL "upgrades" for 2003,
|you need to buy new CALs.
