Go to control-panel,ADM.,open event viewer for more details
You might also go to run, type:DXDIAG And run direct X utility, open the cas
when shutdown feel the processor heat sink, warm is normal,v.hot might indicat
fan problems,replace the fan.

I agree with Andrew's suggestions about looking at the
event viewer and running DirectX diagnostics. This might
give you a clue as to which part of the system is crashing.

I don't think this is a thermal problem or it would happen
anytime - not just when playing games. Having worked on
some DirectX games I can tell you that the C000005 error
is usually the result of the program using a pointer which
is set to zero, or some other invalid value. Since you're
having this problem with several games it's unlikely that
this is a leftover bug in the game applications, but is
probably something wrong in your system configuration.
Since it's happening only in games then it's probably a
DirectX driver problem.

Anyway, the DirectX diagnostics might tell you something.
Otherwise, check to make sure you have the latest version
of the DirectX drivers for your sound, video, and game
controllers. Also, make sure the drivers your using are
compatible with the version of DirectX you have installed.
It might not hurt to update everything.
