Burning a CD... help!

My burner is really messed up and I have no idea why. I have a new Dell
(only got it in March) but the burner is very erratic. Sometimes the burner
doesn't even recongize the blank CD and I can't use it (but it will work on
my other computer) or it will recongize the CD and when I burn something,
only a fraction of the tracks come up (I tried to burn a CD this morning and
only 8/11 tracks actually were burned). Did anyone have a similar problem,
and what would be the best thing to do?

You did not state what application you are using to burn a CD, is it Roxio,
Nero???
Also, check the total megabites of the songs before burning, you may be trying
to put too much on one CD. A lot depends on the format/size of the songs
you are
burning.
