BUG REPORT > OUTLOOK 2003: Cannot sort without grouping!

Outlook 2003
1) Click on subject column heading to sort.
2) Outlook automatically groups by subject
3) Show group box
4) remove subject from group box
5) list becomes unsorted (reverts to previous sort)

AND

1) Right-click > Customize view
2) Select grouping "none"
3) Select subject in sort by (still group by is none)
3) Click "OK"
4) Outlook Sorts AND GROUPS by subject!!!!

UGHH!!!

To review and mass delete emails, I need it without grouping because with
grouping they are grouped individually since subjects are rarely the same!

When I click on Arrange By and remove the check from the Show in Groups item
(end of menu), grouping is turned off and selecting any other item from the
Arrange by list doesn't restore grouping.

Hi,

Yes, After I posted this I did find an auto-group checkbox and turned it off.

Therefore I change my bug report to:

Right-click > customize current view > Group By button

"Group By" should display as "auto grouping" rather than "none"

because the list was certainly sorted even when it said "none". I had
clicked the button previously and saw all grouping as off, but did not notice
the check box at the top until returning to the Group By dialog much later.

Extremely poor design.
