You must be using Win XP then (error report thingie).

What are you trying to burn? Data? Or are you cloning a DVD?

Are you copying another DVD from a DVD-ROM drive?

If so, which IDE ports do you have your optical and hard drives on?

Are the jumpers on optical drives set correctly?

And is an 800Mhz CPU fast enough for an A106 to operate? (I haven't checked the spec.)

And which motherboard are you using?

And finally, how much free space do you have on that 40Gig HDD?

I have the same DVD burner and it works fine, using it with an XP2600.

irq is not equal to
Is usually to do with memory problems, however, there is a 'bug' with CloneCD and Win XP (I think your using XP) and if you are using that it is supposedly fixed with an update. You did buy a real version of Clone, didn't you?

Also check that neither Nero nor Clone have installed a 'virtual drive', you don't need it and can also cause problems.

Do not use 'on the fly' burning, use the DVDRW as the sauce and destination and make sure you have plenty of room on you HD for this ... a 40 is quite small but if you have over half free should work ok.

If you have to resort to PIO mode then you do indeed need a better system or at least try to eliminate any background activity ... turn off any AV programs etc,.

Plase post back with more information on your system.

I see a coupla probs

You don't have enough space on your hard disk.

You either gotta get something bigger (minimum 80gb) or delete lottsa stuff to free up at least 20Gb.

Also, I'm assuming your Hard Disk would be set to master, on IDE 1 and therefore your DVDRW should be set to slave, on IDE 2. Although, as it's actually working in PIO mode, that's probably not a problem.

Worth checking out though, check jumper settings on both HDD & DVDRW and have a look in windows to see what IDE ports they're on.

But really, you have enough RAM, I think you just don't have enough disk space, as all the data will be stored temporarily before burning.

Not 100% sure, of course, but it's an educated guess.
