BSOD now and then...

Hi

Getting a few errors lately, and im totally clueless this time:

First the stop stop 0xa appeared, and i looked for drivers and so on.
Finally i decided to do a clean install on formatted drives (again...) to
loose these errors.

I installed the following sofware:

All recent updates from microsoft
Norton antivirus 2004
Creative software for my card (SB Audigy Player), all recent there too (from
creatives auto updater on their www-page)
Sygate personal firewall (since ZA kept messing with True Vector)
Recent nvidia drivers from microsoft update

No virus detected on the system according to symantecs on-line scan and
local scan.

Now the BSOD is back giving me 0x4e and 0x8e stop errors.
I cant pinpoint where the errors occur and its really frustrating.

Deactivated shadowing in BIOS plus i disabled the VIA audio since i have SB.

thankfull for ANY tips on this one before i go out and buy a Mac.

Just to get you started (since you seem to be doing a great job on your own
but have hit a wall) -- 0x4e errors are nearly always driver or physical RAM
issues, and 0x8e problems are usually hardware compatibility issues (which,
again, may mean drivers). I suggest you walk through the solutions
documented for each error on my Stop Messages page. There's a fair bit of
information:

Thx for the reply.

Strange things are happening....

I reverted the nVidia Detonator drivers from the latest available to like
41.09 due to a tip from a friend who had similiar problems with BSOD.

Did the uninstall and all that, cleaned the system from nVidia-related files
with a special tool. Booted again and went down to BSOD right after BIOS
(just when Windows booted probably). Did a restart and it ran fine for
several hours.

Later on when my girlfriend hit the powerswitch the same thing happened (the
comp had by then been turned off for some time). BSOD right after BIOS. She
reset the system using reset-button, and before BIOS the black screen
promting "windows can't load" with the timer for restart with default
settings appeared. The comp restarted and it hasn't crashed yet...

What's this all about?
