Hi,
I have a networked share folder ( on a 2003 SBS file server ) which has
about 10,000 image files in it.
We regularly search for files on this using the built in search function (
on both windows 98 & windows XP machines ). This works great on the win98
machines ... it searches the entire folder for a file name in about 2 seconds
.... but the windows XP search takes forever. Even when supposedly setting it
up to index this folder it does not help.
Am I barking up the right tree ?? Also ... even when just browsing this
folder in explorer it takes a good 20 seconds to bring up the file list ...
ie: the XP machines seem to be very slow browsing across the network to this
folder. Whereas the 98 machines are all instant access. !!!
Can someone please point me in the right direction.
Steve
