Broadcom 440x 10/100 integrated controller

I have an Inspiron 5150 with this broadcom controller, I am connected
to the internet through a wireless router. My wireless works fine but
if I try to plug my ethernet wire into my computer all it ever says is
my network cable is unplugged, I've tried different cords but to no
avail. The thing of it all is when I do plug it in, a Internet Gateway
appears at the top of my network connections page and says it is
connected at 10 mb/s!! It also shows sending and receiving info as
well yet if I disable my wireless it doen't open any pages in Explorer,
I'd like to be able to connect with the ethernet cable so I can
download faster and in the instance where I cannot use my wireless.

By the way I am running Windows XP

Hi
Read this FAQ, http://www.ezlan.net/faq.html#unplugged

Disable temporarily the Wireless and follow the process as mentioned in the
link above. Once you make the wired working, you have two options.

Option 1. Disable the Wireless every time you would like to use the wire.
Option 2. Give the wired TCP/IP a lower Metrics then the Wireless. Doing so
would force the use of the Wire if both connected.
