Briefcase and Subfolders

I have Win XP Pro SP2. I am trying to use Briefcase to synchronize a large
group of files on a networked computer to my laptop. I created a "briefcase"
on my laptop, and copied all of the folders contained in the primary folder I
am synchronizing. The files I need are at \\server\c\progfolder\data\files.
In that folder, I have lots of subfolders.

When I set up the briefcase, I put it at a location on my laptop that
corresponds to the network structure, at c:\progfolder\data_remote\files.
This "files" is my briefcase. I copied all of the subfolders from
\\server\...\files to c:\...\files.

Now, when I Update All, it synchronizes the contents of the subfolders that
existed on the day I set up Briefcase, but it doesn't add new subfolders as
they are added to the server. is there a way to get Briefcase to add the new
subfolders and synchronize them as well?

Yes, you have to drag the one folder that contains all the subfolders
that you want to synchronize (and inside which any new subfolders
would go) into the briefcase. That way, Windows will recognize new
subfolders as changes the one folder you've dragged into the
briefcase, and copy the new subfolders accordingly.
Don't worry about corresponding to the network structure on your
laptop. As long as the folder you're synchronize isn't moved, Windows
will still recognize everything.
I couldn't quite tell from your example which folders were which, so
if you're still confused, detail the hierarchy you have so I can give
you an example. I think this is pretty straightforward though.
