Hi

I've just installed above system on a spare pc and after the welcome screen
I get an error when it searches for the mouse driver, but it recognises it
as a ps/2 compatible mouse. I've tried 3 different mouse's but to no avail.
Also more headwrecking is on boot up it displays;

primary master...o/s (OK)
secondary slave...none (OK)
primary eide...not found (The o/s on it and appears in "My Computer")
secondary eide...not found (I have cd/rw on and obviosly used it to install
o/s but no show in "My Computer")

I've changed eide cables/hung different optical drives from it/changed
settings in bios, all have failed me. If only i could get the mouse working
I could look into computer management and also check in device manager.

Any ideas?

I can only offer a suggestion regarding your mouse problem. Others will
have to deal with the partition problems you're having.

Did you try a USB mouse? I had a similar problem when I had XP Pro
installed on another computer, but a USB connected mouse worked like a
charm.

what is on the primary drive, xp pro or earlier is ok

vista, w2k3.... can be a problem - wrong install order but you work around
with partition magic or similar utility before re-install

hope that above helps

"Yes" no joy

Hi

I got a HDD off a friend which had XP pro on, so I stuck it in the spare
machine also with a better gfx card /3 port firewire PCI card, plus higher
wattage PSU. I formatted the HDD using maxblast floppy, then there was a
fault on one of the feeds in the PSU. so put back other working unit then
re-formatted and installed with WinXP corporate edition (sorry not as stated
Pro sp2) that's basically when the trouble started.
