Bootup Problem

I think its slow due to Vista not been able to find a drive that has been
removed. Originally this drive had all my Docs/pics/music stored on it but
have moved them all back to the default folders on C drive.

The following message is displayed just after boot :

"location is not available. D:/Will\Desktop is not available etc"

How can I get Vista not to try and find this drive and how do I move the
desktop back to the C: drive ?

It is also effecting IE 7 and favourites ie I have lost the ability to save
or edit or even see my favourites

btw: I posted earlier but since I was in a hurry it looked a bit muddled so
have done it again

Open up the Vista Start Menu and click on the link for your account
name. You will open up a Windows Explorer window which shows all your
user folders, such as Documents, Music, Pictures, Desktop, Favorites,
etc. In Details view, this is handy since one column shows the Folder
path for each of these.
Most of the folders will be on your boot drive (normally, C:) in this
path:
C:\Users\<AccountName>
where <AccountName>, of course, is your account name.
You can change where files in these folders are stored to another place
on your hard drive, another drive or partition, or another computer on
your network.
All you have to do is right click the folder, click on the Location
tab, type in the new location, and click OK. You will then be presented
with a message asking if you want to move all of the files from the old
location to the new location, and recommending that you do so or else
you will see two of the designated folder in your profile.

I have done this all previously and that has worked. But somehow for Desktop
the location has become scrambled and now the problem has changed slighly
with the replacement of my DVD drive ( replaced an IDE with a sata drive ).
Now as this is the "D" drive I get the message "please insert a disk into
DVD RW drive " instead of "location is not available. D:/Will\Desktop is not
available etc". Now I just click cancel and it goes away and all the drives
etc are there but its annoying the hell out of me. And if I cant fix it I
will do a format reinstall of Vista.

Enough is enought

reinstallation of Vista done

Will now keep the location on one drive and make regular backups
