Boot from SATA drive after EIDE added

My system boots fine when the (new) SATA drive is the only hard disk. If I
add one of my old EIDE drives it tries to boot from it, not my SATA drive.
How can I make it ignore the EIDE drives if present and always boot from the
SATA drive?
