Boot error, keyboard input not responding

About 3 days ago my dad installed IE7 beta. PC (Compaq) XPPro 1GIG Ram is
used mainly for email and web

browsing.

Since then the PC stops loading during boot when he tries to start it.
He passes the Compaq splash screen and is offered the F10 setup option.
The message says his configuration has been updated and he is offered the
SAVE CHANGES option in the lower

left corner of the screen.

The problem is that when he presses the <Enter> key or F10 it does not
initiate any action.
He says there is a note that there is a keyboard error. He has tried a new
ps2 keyboard and a new USB keyboard

and gets the same error, BUT he can press Ctr+Alt+Del and it will reboot the
pc.

He put in his Ghost restore CD and the XPPro cd and neither will not boot.
I believe he needs to get into the

BIOS to change boot options since it seems that CD boot may not be selected.
Any ideas what the issue is here and what can be done to cure it?
Thanks

As soon as the machine boots and you see the POST or the manufacturers logo,
press the appropriate key/combo to enter the BIOS setup before you get the setup
option.

If you still have trouble accessing the BIOS setup, check any documentation for
the machine for the proper key/s to press and/or on how to reset the BIOS
settings to default. Resetting to default is usually accomplished by either
removing the CMOS battery for a short period and then reinserting it, changing
jumpers on the motherboard or selecting Default settings in the BIOS,

There is that slight issue of not being able to input data or selection with
the keyboard. I know that I will have to change the boot order.
Thanks

Again. I am not able to input data with the keyboard.
I am in the process of swapping out the RAM with other and see what happens.
Thanks

The system was set to access the CD first but no keyboard access. System
said keyboard error and nothing about RAM issues.

The RAM was the issue.
I cleaned the contacts on the ram and it didn't correct the problem booting,
so I replaced it with NEW ram and the system is running correctly again.

Regards,
I hope this may be of some help to others experiencing the same type of issue.

There is no "Again" as you stated in your post:

That indicates input from the keyboard.
