Bogus search bar self installed

Steve

I have an unidentified search bar that has installed
itself on my internet explorer toolbar. My Spy Sweeper
is unable to locate the source file, and I cannot get rid
of it as Internet Explorer does not recognize the search
bar. How do I locate and delete this search toolbar?
Reinstalling IE6 has not helped.

Thanks,

-Steve

First eliminate any scumware.
See
Dealing with Unwanted Spyware, Parasites, Toolbars and Search Engines
http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/unwanted.htm

Note that AdAware and SpyBot S & D will each catch some things the other
won't. Also, each need to be updated before every use, even when just
downloaded.

If trying everything at that site does not fix the problem please post back
in the same thread.

Steve,

Spy Sweeper may be your root problem.
Uninstall, scan for Spyware parasites with a "known-good"
Spyware application, i.e.> SpyBot Search & Destroy or Lavasoft's
Ad-aware, info and download below:

Hi, it's not my thread, but I have the exact same problem
and run and updated both Spywares. (I thought it
unnecessary to start another thread)

However I have been able to determine that my mysterious
search bar (never even heard of these people) is from
lop.com. Of course a quick glance on their website shows
me nothing that can remove their search bar - I don't
even see anything that says they have a search bar.

Frustrated and hopeful. :)

Hi Jeff,

If SpyBot nor Ad-aware detected the C2Media/Lop parasite,
run "Hijack This" > info and download.

As my colleague Frank pointed out, please post back if you need
further assistance.
