blue screen now when I turn on my USB/MIDI keyboard

I need some help with something that I just can't get figured out on my own
yet. I am not sure how much info to put in so please let me know if I need to
add more.
I have just upgraded from XP to Vista home premium. I have a USB/MIDI
keyboard that was working perfectly fine after the upgrade. When I turned on
the keyboard it would show the MIDI driver loaded and everthing was just fine
and dandy.
Now all of a sudden when I turn on the keyboard I get the blue screen of
death that tells me windows has detected a problem and is shutting down to
avoid problems. If I leave the keyboard turned on then my computer keeps in a
cycle of blue screen/reboot. If I turn off the keyboard everything boots and
works just fine.

I used to see a MIDI driver device listed in my device manager and now
nothing relating to that exhists. I am a little lost for I cannot get a MIDI
driver installed since my computer shuts down when I turn on the keyboard.

Could the sound card drivers mess with this in any way? I have a
soundblaster 24-bit internal with the Vista driver. The vista driver does not
support all the functions of my soundcard such as soundfonts like it did in
XP. I was messing around trying to install older drivers to see if I could
get all those functions back. I had no luck and reinstalled the Vista drivers.

I would appreciate any and all help and thanks for reading my question.

I really wasn't sure of what section to put this question in and apologize if
this needed to be somewhere else.

Well, sounds like playing around with the drivers might've caused the issue.
Maybe not.

You say "when you turn the keyboard on"... do you have more than one
keyboard attached to the PC? Or do you turn the MIDI keyboard on/off while
attached to the PC? Just trying to get a little more info...

Do you have a system restore point, for when things were working, to which
you can revert?

Hi Lang, thanks for looking at my thread.
I do only have one keyboard. I have been turning the keyboard on while it is
attached to the computer. I did try turning it on and then connecting the USB
connection but I still get the same blue screen.

When Vista boots back up it gives me a message box about improper shutdown
and would I like to check online for an answer but nothing ever comes out of
that. I click on the details in the box and here is what it shows. Hope this
might help too.

I am really guilty at not doing restore points. I do not have one to go back
to. Lesson learned there my friend.
Hope this helps and thanks again so far,

Hmm... running out of ideas here. Have you tried uninstalling the Vista
soundcard drivers and reinstalling? (After having tried the older drivers
and gone back to Vista driver? Try uninstalling and reinstalling the Vista
driver after all that?)

Anyway, if you tried it and it didn't work or you try it and it doesn't
work... I don't know... maybe do some research in setupapi.log to see if you
can determine just what exactly got installed by the old drivers and get rid
of every artifact from the old drivers. Not a job I'd wish on my worst
enemy, but an option.

Have you tried a System Repair? Not sure if that would help with your issue
or not.

It's not the sound card at all, I've had the same problem with my Digital
Camera and my ipod. It has something to do with the USB.

Yeah,...I also have that problem. Everytime I turn on the computer, it says
that the problem is the camera usb drive. How can I resolve my problem?
Please help!
