Blocky gifs and icons in XP Home and IE

Hi, I have just bought a new laptop and the icons (Standby, Turn Off, Cancel
and systray especially) are blocky. The gifs in IE6 are just as bad yet when
the web pages are rendered in Firefox all animations are fine. Is there a
setting that can be adjusted to resolve this? Many thanks.

Thanks uggabugga. Did that but there's no difference. Strange that Firefox is
fine but IE6 is blocky. Any other advice?
