Hi folks,
I have a Windows XP Pro SP 2 machine and I was wondering if there is a way
to block ports on it using the Windows Firewall or any other method? Thanks
folks!

DSL/Cable Router such as the Linksys BEFSR41 can. So can a FireWall appliance or FireWall
application.

well I of course use the Windows Firewall, but I cannot locate a way to block
ports. I can open them just fine, but blocking doesn't seem to be there. Is
that the case with these? Thanks David!

If you mean "outbound" access you can not do that with the Windows Firewall.
You can however create an ipsec filtering policy or use a third party
firewall such as Zone Alarm [free for personal use] that can also have rules
based on the application that is trying to access the outbound ports and do
some logging. Otherwise do as David suggests and get a router/firewall that
can manage outbound access. --- Steve

I'd suggest looking at Kerio Firewall - it's one of the most effective for
fine-grained control over ports.
