blank DVD's

I am trying to put my film trailer onto some blank dvds...and windows xp pro
and my sony DRU-500A dvd-rw drive just will not see anything I put into
it....It gladly reads CD'S and hollywood DVD's...it even reads burnt
DVD's...I have cleaned the lens, reinstalled the drivers, I have tried
maxell, sony and several other types of DVD-R media....But no go.
If anyone out there can help...I am sure it's something to do with
drivers/firmware (which I have been tearing my hair out downloading for two
days)...could it be a DVD decoder that I need..? or is there a 'best DVD' to
try?
very annoying.
(the trailer for the film is at www.indirectfilms.com)
Thanks guys
Richard

You need third party software to burn DVD's.

A couple of Third party software products you might want to check out are
"Nero 6 Ultra Edition" or "Roxio Easy Media Creator-7 or 7.5". I have both of
the programs and also have a Sony DRU-510A and also a Sony DRU-710A. Both
drives have worked excellent with both of the software programs. "Kurttrail"
is right on with his answer I believe.

Redwagon....

To the OP:
The trailer is in mov format and that is NOT a DVD
compatible format, so it should be converted before being
burned to DVD. And then you still need the 3rd party
burning software, such as Roxio.

Nero is great, but I can no longer recomment Roxio, after they were sold
to Sonic, and are charging for .5 updates.

Unless it is in a 16:9 format, as Roxio only seems to do 4:3. Nero is
much better when it comes to video.

that doesn't matter - you can't burn files to ANY files to ANY DVD disks in
XP using the 'burning' feature (that's for CD-R'/RW only - you need a
program like Ahead Nero.

Not sure what the problem is here since you did not state the file format of
the film trailer, if you want it to play like a movie DVD, or with some with
some other application. The trailer is in "mov" file format. A simple file
copy to your hard drive, then burning this file to DVD in ISO 9660 format
should be okay. You need 3rd partyDVD burning software for this. Your DVD
movie software can't play "mov" files. WMP can.

Have you attempted to burn anything to DVD before? If not, get this worked
out first.
