Black screen on start up of Windows XP Home

Morning,

When Windows XP Home (on Dell Computer) starts up, it goes to a black screen
that has a message with short white line that spins at the beginning, the
message says " Client MAC ADDR: 00 0F 1F52 FF D4 Guide: 44454C4C -
0000-10FF-80TF-80C04FFFFFFFF" after about a minute XP continues and starts
up "Normally". Does anyone know how to correct this. Also, after it
completes it's startup, I stumbled onto a page that says that like 44
processes are runinng. Is that too many? If so can I reduce that number?

Thanks so much for helping a novice.

Since you don't mention anything that is failing to work, I doubt that you
will need to do any 'repair' These 44 processes are prety normal, and the
message on startup is probably some setting in your BIOS that you would want.

Mark,

Thanks for your informative reply. The computer seems to be running
normally after starup. I thiught maybe 44 running processes was too many
since the computer is only used to read e-mail and play on-line poker.
