Black Ink does not dry on photos.

S

Serge

Brother Ink Jet MFC-215C Printer.

When I print photos, the black ink never seems to dry. Even after a week,
if I frame the picture, some of the black look like darker smudges on the
glass.. I have tried different colour settings but to no avail. I have
also changed cartridge. It does not affect regular printing of letters just
photos.

I am open to any suggestions, except discarding the printer.

Just a couple of thoughts...

Are you printing on photo paper?

Are you using the ink and photo paper
that is specifically recommended for
your printer?

Maybe it would be worth a try to contact

I am using Brother's recommended ink.

I have not been able to purchase the recommended Brother Photo paper. I
have been using Kodak Ultima Photo Paper (ultra glossy). I have also used
Kodak Premium Photo Paper with the same results. According to Kodak both
papers should work on all Inkjet printers

The printer has settings for Inkjet paper and Glossy paper. I have tried
them both with the same results.

I have phoned Brother here in New Zealand. The recommended store did not
have any.

As soon as I am finished here, I will check that website.

Thanks

I certainly do not know exactly why you are
having the drying problem but it's possible
that the paper is the cause.

Maybe the prints would eventually dry if left
exposed spread out on a table (not stacked).

Good luck finding the solution.

John

In this case "would eventually dry" would take much, much too long.
Desperate measure demands desperate solution. I took a risk with the
following solution.

I placed the photo (A4 size) covered with an A4 plain white sheet of paper
into a picture frame. I turned on the hair dryer and blew some light warm
air on the glass.

The black ink dried quickly. There was no ink on the plain white sheet of
paper and the picture frame stopped the photo paper from curling.

It is an awkward solution, but for now this is all I have and it is working.
It also only takes a few minutes.

Hey...if it works...that's all you asked for.

Thanks for the update.
