Bizarre win98/XP mixed netowork issue

Hi All,
Had a browse around the group(and the web) and cannot find any
replication of this ultra wierd issue I'm having. Here goes;

My setup: Win2kSBS server, 13x win98 clients, 2x XP clients.

Issue: While both XP machines show up in NN on the 98 machines only one
can be accessed (shares/printers) and it is always the one that boots
up first. The other kicks up the following error "\\Machine_name is
not accessible. The logon server cannot be found"

Both XP machines can access each others shares regardless of anything
else.

I inherited this network recently and all was working fine.
The other evening I uninstalled Norton and added Etrust corporate to
both these machines added an sntp time server client to both, and
installed and ran Spybot S&D on both machines.

The next day the shares were inaccessible.

I would appreciate any and all insight as I'm fresh out of ideas.

Thanks

O.k. an update, XP1 machine is now accessible to all on the nework
having been booted up after XP2 machine (also visible) but when it
booted up 6 of the sixteen computers dissappeared from network
neighborhood on the other machines, this has been happening
sporadically also as I boot/reboot.

Help!!

Please.
