Bitmap icons

A few weeks ago, I reformatted my hard drive. I installed Adobe Photoshop
5.5. (I've used it before.) It took over for being the default bitmap
handling program. (and I don't think I set it to do so either, but I can't
remember.) I thought that I could just change it back to mspaint for the
default program. I did, but the icons still showed up as Adobe Photoshop
icons and when I went to the properties, it would say Adobe Photoshop Bitmap
Image or something like that. I also noticed that 'New Bitmap Image' was
removed from my list of new templates, which I use the bitmap template all
the time. I decided, fine... I removed Adobe Photoshop. So, all was well,
except the template was still gone. Went to TweakUI and tried to add the
mspaint template, but I have no clue where it was, so I completely removed
mspaint and while I was at it, I went into the registry and removed anything
that had to do with Adobe Photoshop. (Even after removing Photoshop, the
bitmaps still showed up as Adobe Photoshop Bitmap Images.) I got mspaint
re-installed using my XP disc and now my templates are back, BUT there is
one problem. It's nothing critical, but a little annoying. The bitmap
icons FOR THE BITMAP IMAGES ON MY COMPUTER are the old Windows 98, Windows
ME styled icons for the bitmap images, but the PROGRAM icon itself is the XP
look. How can I restore the XP styled icons to my bitmap files as well? I
have 2 other computers with XP in our house, so is it possible to get a file
off of one of them to return the icons back to normal? If so, where would
the file be located? I already tried getting the actual mspaint program
file, but that didn't do it. Yes after replacing the mspaint file, I
restarted the computer.

By the way, I never had conflicts with Photoshop before I reformatted my HD.

THANKS.
