birthday flaw

G

So... when you enter a birthday for a contact, it adds that to your
calendar... all fine and dandy, except for when you delete a contact, or
remove the birthday from a contact, it still appears in the calendar and
isn't erased. Am I doing something wrong, or is this a small flaw in the
program. Because I have birthdays showing up for contacts I've deleted
months ago.

it's not a flaw - once added to the calendar, birthdays are disconnected
from the contact that added them. The only connection is the link to the
contact - and outlook would be wrong to delete all items linked to a contact
when the contact was deleted.

Ok, i can agree with your explanation. But can you help me with an example?
And why it can´t answer what we want to delete/update?

thanks and regards,

That makes no sense. Why can't you have the option when you hit delete for a
contact that asks you if you want to delete linked items? It could even give
you a list of linked items and you can check or uncheck them and delete them.
A lot of the answers you have given here on this board are true about what
CAN be done today. Suggestions (like this one) are why can't we do this in
the FUTURE!!!! This can't be that hard to do...I hope Microsoft is listening!
I understand that you were answering that this can't be done now and I am
sure that Nate appreciates that information. I am frustrated that throughout
the posts like this one that are valid and useful suggestions, there is no
consideration of the fact that this was posted as such.

I have from time to time seen birthdays disappear. They will still be in
every view of calendar except the day view. I see your tool here and I may
try it but I would like to know what is happening. How can a event be in one
of the list views but not show in the calendar by day view?

Diane;

Thanks for response. Yes I am syncing with a handheld. My question is how
can the event be in the table view but not in the Day view? I have been a
programmer for 40 years and am just curious.

Some other posts indicate that there is a value in the event record not

Because it’s a problem with the view - in the table view they are single
events, in Day/Week/Month they display multiple times per the recurrence
setting and its messed up.

Are you using Exchange? There is a fix the admin can install on the server,
but non-exchange users need to wait for a fix.

OK - a follow-up question. If I used the addin from rsoutlook, will this

Because the problem is the sync and not just that they weren't created, I
don't think you need the tool, but yes, if you use it, you could get dupes
on the device but typically deleting in Outlook will delete on the device.
It all depends on your configuration - which device is considered master.

If you can sync by category, put them in a category and don't sync them.

It shouldn't matter but there is a bug somewhere. If this is what causes it,
we can tell people not to do it until its fixed. Unfortunately, I have a
