Bios Advanced Boot Sequence

C

Chu Rey

I have a severally compromized XP OS. After I get into normal mode the
system hangs. I can get into safe to fiddle with the files and so
forth.

I want to delete the XP directory of the hard drive D. Format C Drive
(Data and XP OS on 2nd hard drive D) and install windows 2000 on clean
formated C Drive.

I would want to copy from CD into D Drive the windows 2000 i386 files.
Use a boot floppy to get into D Drive and run the installation from
i386.

The snag is in Bios Advanced. I change the boot order -CD Floppy HD0.
If it would boot from the CD great -or boot from floppy great -but no
matter what order the bios during reboot simply won't boot from CD and
or floppy. Bios insists only booting into OS.

Thus in normal mode the system immediately freezes. I can't run a cd
installation. Normal I can navigate just fine but no cd support. And
the boot sequence changes give me no affective results.

I'm in this moment -stuck.

Any advise will be welcome

- What partition types are your drives - FAT32 or NTFS?
- Do you have access to a partition manager, e.g. PQMagic?

Possibly set the boot order in cmos setup to CD-Rom first in boot sequence.
Also look for the keystroke (if necessary) at POST to force boot from CD-Rom
drive or check your mobo/pc manual for instructions.
