bf1942 - video corruption on exit to menu - 9700 pro and cat 3.9

In bf1942 I lose the mouse pointer and sometimes get video corruption on
exit to menu - 9700 pro and cat 3.9. If I press escape to get back to the
game again the display is usually badly corrupted. However, the game
always runs perfectly if I don't press escape to get to the menu. Anyone
else having this problem?

This was a known problem with BF1942 and the Cat 3.8 (3.7?) drivers. Thought
they fixed it. What version of BF do you use - already updated to 1.5?
I'm running with BF1942 V1.5 and Cat 3.6 - everything is fine.

It is the 3.8's that have the problem. 3.7's work fine for me in all
the games I play.

Thanks for the info. I wasn't quite sure about it. Since the problem doesn't
occur with 3.6 and 3.7 drivers it must be an ATI driver problem or did the
BF1942 patch 1.5 fix anything?
Since the 3.7 drivers gave me problems with some new games when first
released I am still stuck with Cat 3.6 and I see no reason to update.
Everything is running perfect - old and new games!

I am using v1.5 of bf1942 and the Omega version of cat 3.9. It looks like I
may need to revert to cat 3.6.

No the patch didn't fix anything like that because EA weren't to know Ati would
fcuk up their drivers.

I use Catalyst 3.9 with a ATI 9800Pro and I have no problems what so ever
switching between game and windows with BF1942/DC, I'm running 1.5/0.5.

Running WindowsXP Pro SP1, DirectX 9a - 9b f**k up TV PAL, Thanks to all
"rocket scientists" at M$ that figured that all the world is doing NTSC for
TV...great work stupid n00bies!

Hi:

I've been using an ATI Radeon 9700 Pro for over a year, always
updating to the latest drivers (starting w/v3.4 I think) and through
the same time have been playing BF1942 (+RtR, SW, FH, EoD and DC) also
upgrading each version/patch to the latest.
I run these games at 1600x1200 85Hz and all the goodies at full.
Never a problem with these games, Cat drivers or anything else.
Last week I swapped out the 9700 Pro for an ATI 9800 XT 256MB
card, upgraded from whatever the install CD put in to Cat 3.9 and
again ... no problems.
Just like the many years where I used various Matrox cards, I've
had no driver issues.
I don't o/c, have always been Wintel, have a well cooled box, use
a beefy PSU, don't use Creative products, keep my O/S (now WinXP HE
SP1a clean/DX9b) up to date and follow the video card mfr's driver
update instructions exactly.

Happy trails,
