Best solution to make a DVD with Movie Maker ?

Lilian Pigallio

Hi all,

Ok I have read http://www.eicsoftware.com/PapaJohn/MM2/MM2.html

but I already use NeroVisio Express and I don't really understand why I
should use TMPGEnc to make the MPEG2 file (NeroVisio already do it).

In Movie Maker I save my file using (in French) "Video de qualité
supérieure"? Should I use "DV-AVI (PAL)" format ?

Other question: what are the new functionalities in Movie Maker v2.1 vs v2.0
?

Hi Lilian,

Most people think that TMPGEnc makes superior quality MPEG-2 files....
better than what you get by having Nero or MyDVD or other software do that
step of the conversion process as you move toward a DVD.

No you need to? No..... Most of the DVDs I make are by MyDVD, using the
DV-AVI files from Movie Maker. Some use the more compressed WMV files
instead. Do I get less quality than if I used DV-AVI and TMPGEnc? Yes, a
bit. Is it significant? It depends on what the DVD is about and who will be
viewing it.

Thank for your quick answer... and about my 2 other questions (DV-AVI
quality and Movie Maker v2.1 ) ?

DV-AVI is the best choice when heading toward a disc....

Info about the extra features of version 2.1 are on the Setup > MM2.1 page
of my website..., but I'm still learning as I go. There isn't a published
list of changes yet.
