Hello!

I am looking for a free Anti-Virus Software that can successfully
protect my system against the latest viruses and worms.

Currently I have found these two:
AntiVir: http://www.free-av.com/
BitDefender: http://www.bitdefender.com/bd/site/products.php?p_id=24

Do you know one or both of the two and are they any good? Which other
tools can you recommend?

Thanks in advance,
Christoph

I'll be needing a new AV soon as my McAfee 4.03 will be expiring soon, so
I'm interested too.

The scan engine of McAfee 4.03 loads my AMD-K6-III 450 CPU about 30-70%.
This WinNT4W system has 250MB RAM.

How much does the Avast scan engine load your CPU? Please describe your
system too.

Just as an information: Neither Avast nor any other free av scanner is
(qualitatively) comparable to *good* commercial anti virus scanner. Try
one with KAV-Engine, e.g. KAV or F-Secure.

Well, McAfee is supposed to be a "good" commercial AV program, but just look at
its CPU load.

I have run AVG for a while with good luck. There is a list of a few
other free AV packages @
