Go into Control Panel/Add or Remove Programs, then click the Add/Remove
Windows Components in the left pane. With Accessories and Utilities
highlighted on the first screen, click the Details button. Single
left-click Games in the next screen to highlight it, then again click the
Details button. On the resulting screen you can add or remove check marks
from any of the listed games. OK your way back twice (two screens) then
click the Next button and finally Finish.

Hi

This advice was useful but I appear to have lost only the Pinball game (?)
It doesn't appear in the list of games available when I go through the
procedure you suggested. Any ideas as to how I can get it back ?

Thanks

Hi Richard,

Pinball is not on that list by default. You may need to use these steps first:

Easy solution: Make a shortcut to Pinball if it's on your drive. Default DIR:
"C:\Program Files\Windows NT\Pinball\PINBALL.EXE"

Otherwise Richard...
1. Choose Start / Run / Copy+Paste the next line into the RUN box and press [ENTER]:
notepad %SystemRoot%\Inf\Sysoc.inf

2. Scroll down to the line that reads: Pinball=ocgen.dll,OcEntry,pinball.inf,HIDE,7
and delete the word HIDE from the line so it now reads: Pinball=ocgen.dll,OcEntry,pinball.inf,,7

3. Click File / Exit and choose YES to save the changes you made to the file.

4. Click Start / Settings / Control Panel / Add-Remove Programs and follow the
instructions posted in the first paragraph to reinstall Pinball now that it's on the list.

Sorry, but you didn't mention just Pinball. Follow Jimmy's
instructions. The easiest way is to right-click the desktop, create a new
Shortcut and locate the file on your drive. It should be in C:\Program
Files\Windows NT\Pinball\PINBALL.EXE. Once you create that Shortcut, you
can have the icon on your desktop, or move it wherever you'd like by
dragging and selecting to move it.

Thanks to both Jimmy and Chris. I followed your instructions but no joy. The
file is in the correct place but on trying to open it, the Pinball screen
flashes up for a millisecond and vanishes. I tried reloading Pinball from my
XP disc but that just caused me more problems as I screwed up Internet and
Windows Explorer - I had to use System restore to get everything back on
track again. I don't know if it's worth me risking messing the whole system
up so I'll maybe just tell the kids "Tough - it's gone". I'd love to know why
though? Thanks again for your help

Hi Richard,

There is still another possibility to get the Pinball issue resolved:
Since that problem just started happening recently, try a System Restore.

How to use Windows XP System Restore:
