Bad Update ?? or is it just my system ??

I woke up this AM to a black screen of death saying that Windows failed to
boot because the file 'Winload.exe' was missing or corrupt. It told me to
boot from the CD and repair my installation.

I repaired my install and the system booted (wonder of wonders). When it
came alive it reported that it received updates and had to reboot.

Has anyone else had this problem? Just trying to determine if it was a bad
update or something else that caused my problem.

I let it do an update yesterday, and it destroyed Norton utterly, to where I
had to use the removal tool to get it out before I could even reinstall it.
After hours of wasted time, now I'm getting a blue screen on every boot up,
unless I go into safe mode first, then restart normally. No idea at all what
the problem could be THIS time... grr...
