Bad Image Message?

In the last week, I have been continuously receiving pop up messages (both
while online and offline) telling me there is a bad image. For example, it
will say, "The application or DLL C:\WINDOWS\crme32.dll is not a valid
Windows image. Please check this against your installation diskette." I
have run the most updated virus protection, PCDoctor, an adware removal
program, and updated my OS (XP SP2). What is the source and reason for these
messages? They are about to drive me nuts, now that there are 30 to 40 of
them each day. Can anyone please help? Thanx.

Please check your Event Viewer for more details about the messages. You can
get there by going to Start...Control Panel...Administrative Tools...Event
Viewer. In the left hand pane are 3 categories of events - check each one
for error messages (the one's around the time of your on-screen error
messages will most likely relate to that).

If you're on cable/DSL internet, you might try the free scan here:
http://housecall.trendmicro.com as a double check on your current system
tools.
