Backup without floppies

I decided to try the backup within Vista and was more than amazed to have
it--Vista's backup program--insist that I have a floppy drive!! Surely I
missed something in the startup of the backup as this NEW OS must be aware
that computers haven't had floppies for quite a while now...I, for example,
am on my third system which DOES NOT have a floppy.

So, my question is, is there a methodology for making a complete backup
within Vista using either my dvd burner or one of my external (preferred)
hard drives?

If not, can and will anyone recommend a good backup program as an
alternative?

Thanks,
Tim

Tim,

My system (vista Home Premium Dell XPS410 tower) backs up just fine to
DVD+RW.

Again, on my system, the backup offers ("where do you want to save your
backup?") On a hard disk, CD, or DVD, doesn't offer floppy (I actually do
have a floppy on mine, only useful for making a password recover disc).
Also has a selection for over a network.

In the drop down list it offers 'DVD RW Drive (D:) and XD Memory (G:)
(which is a usb card reader).

Even though you don't have a Floppy Drive installed your BIOS may still have
it 'enabled' so it might show up that way.
