Backup and Recovery Settings--User Name and Password Error Net. Dr

I am trying to set up backup and recovery to use a drive on our network. The
server is Windows 2000 and the volume I want to backup to is an NTFS
partition on a slave drive. I can access the drive via Windows Explorer from
my computer (have written to and deleted from that volume). However, when I
try to change the settings in Backup and Recovery console and I point to that
volume, I get a dialog box asking for the User Name and Password. However,
there isn't one. If I use my User Name and Password from my computer, that
does not work. If I use the generic Adminstrator and no password, that does
not work. I can't figure this out. What is it looking for?

Well, I figured it out. It seems that Vista MUST have a password for the
host (i.e. server) computer in order to work. That is, even though we did
not have a password to log on to that computer (i.e. default Administrator
account), once we did set up a password and used it, Vista allowed the
location to be used for Backup purposes. I conisder this condition to be a
bug within Vista. If a computer does not have a password and sharing has
been established, then Backup should recognize the location as valid.
