Backing up data to a cd

Maybe a simple question, but I can't figure out how to
create a path to my cd burner to back up files from my
hard drive in Windows XP Professional. The backup
utility in System Tools begins a Wizard that only lets
you type in a path to the A drive. When you try to type
in the CD drive, eg, D:/filename, it tells you the path
is invalid but doesn't tell you how to write it.

NTBackup doesnt support backing up to CD's. You will need a third party
program like Norton Ghost to do it.

You have to Back up to a Folder on your Hard Drive. Then you can burn that
folder to a CD. Just create a new folder.

Greetings --

WinXP's NTBackup does not recognize CDRs or CDRWs as valid backup
media. By design, it will only write back-ups to tape drives or
another physical or logical hard drive. Many people back-up to a
spare hard drive, and then burn the resulting file to a CD, as a
work-around. Another option, of course, is to use a 3rd party backup
solution.
