backing up and reinstalling windows 2000

I have a computer running 2000 professional that is
running very slow. Is there any way i can reformat the
hard drive and install windows 2k without the installation
disks? The computer was purchased from Dell and there
were no operating system disks packed with the system.
I'm pretty sure there is some way of getting the files out
of c drive and backing them up, but i'm not sure how.
Some one please help.

you cannot format your drive and install an operating system unless you have
the media...
the exception would be if there is a "backup" partition

whatever problem you have could probably be solved if you'd care to list
specifics

well, if u mean without using the floppies to install,
YES, there is a way. just start up windows and log on. now
put ur CD in and select to install the version and do a
clean install. it should then copy all the needed files to
your hard drive and then restart. select the windows 2000
setup from the list of operating systems. setup should
load up, and when it asks you on which partition, be sure
to delete the partition you have. create a brand-new
partition, and then format it. finish the install and you
are done!

this way is actually much faster than using the floppies,
as the hard drive is much faster than a floppy drive.

**There is also a way to make the floppies, from your
windows 2000 cd. you need to boot into DOS with either a
win 98 or ME startup disk with cdrom support. if you need
the specifics just ask and ill post some helpful commands
u can use.
