Backgrouond Printing, All the Time

I am getting tired of printing in my home PC, WinXP Pro SP2, hogging my
resources.

In doing research on this issue I can only find the background printing
option in relation to MS Office, which I do not use on my home PC anyway.

Is there no replacement for the WinXP print spooler that will allow setting
background printing for all print-jobs to any printer connected to my PC?

The results depend A LOT on the printer and driver you have. But you
will need to look at Printer Properties to make the desired adjustments.

Click start >> Control Panel >> Double Click Network and Internet
Connections >> Double click Internet Options, on the IE Properties window
you will see these Options:
General | Security | Privacy | Content | Connections | Programs
| Advanced .

Click on advanced tab and scroll down under the Printing option and check
mark this box:
[&] Printing
[ ] Print background colors and images

Click [Apply] then click [OK]
HTH.
Let us know.

In the Properties of the Printer, Advanced Settings, you can try setting
Print Direct to Printer and seeing if that changes the situation.
