Does XPE support B.I.T.S. technology?

Sean

XPe supports everything XP does since they're based off of the same
binaries. I glanced at the licensing docs real quick and didn't see any
mention of not allowing the use of that technology in XPe builds.

BTW - I was assuming you were referring to Background Intelligent Transfer
Service right?

Gordon,
What is the component called? I searched for bits and every varation
of "Background Intelligent Transfer Service" that I could come up
with.

Sean

I haven't included it with an XPe build personally. With Win2k, it needed
the following files to run:
QMGR.DLL
WUAUSERV.DLL
WINHTTP.DLL

Verify that those are the same filenames for the XP version then create a
filter looking for components that contain those files.

Sean

I just did what I suggested in the last post searching for QMGR.DLL and
found a "Background Intelligent Transfer Service" component under
Software/System/Networking & Communications/Infrastructure

Gordon,
I just looked myself and did not see it. Is the component called
"Background Intelligent Transfer Service"; if it is then I do not have it.
Have you applied any QFE's do your database?

Sean

The particular machine I looked on has no QFEs attached but is SP1. Are you
using SP1?

Gordon,
What is your visibility set at? Mine is 1000.

Sean

I always set mine to min. However, this particular component has a
visibility of 1000.

Version 5.1.2600.1106
Revision 1507
Packages: Windows XP Embedded Client(x86) Service Pack 1 Package
Categories: Software : System : Networking & Communications :
Infrastructure;
Visibility 1000
Size 175/244

Are you sure you have SP1?
