Avoid downloading additional updates when installing IntExp 7 ?

K

Ken Tremell

I downloaded the FULL IntExp 7 package to my local computer.

I expected that I can now install IntExp on my WinXP system WITHOUT additional downloads.

But when I start the installation a dialog window pops up informing me that he wants
to download "required" updates from Microsoft.

This popup stays for approx 20 minutes because the downloads cannot be performed due to my firewall blocks.

Why does IntExp needs additional updates? ALL SECURITY UPDATES WERE installed.

I don't want some more unknown updates from MS or someone else.

How can I prevent this popup and waiting of the installation procedure and just
install the browser ?

Users of IE7 are asked to post their comments to
microsoft.public.internetexplorer.general newsgroup.

On the web:
http://www.microsoft.com/communitie...?dg=microsoft.public.internetexplorer.general

In your newsreader:
news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsoft.public.internetexplorer.general

But since you're here - the install has a check-box option for it to check
for additional updates during the install process. See #5 in the Resolution
section of this article:

The Windows Internet Explorer 7 installation program stops responding
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/926716/

You may have blown by that option during your install. Just clear that
checkbox and continue your install.
