AVG warning pop-ups

Hi,
I am currently using AVG free edition. Although I have cleared identified
viruses from my PC, I am bombarded with pop-ups warning me of trojans and
that I need to run AVG.

Is this a scaremongering ploy by AVG to get me to pay for the subscription
edition? How do I get rid of these invasive warning pop-ups?

Since AVG is an anti-virus program, not an anti-trojan program, you
need to add more tools to your arsenal. Then you need to figure out
why you had viruses in the first place.

Try the A² anti-trojan program, link here:

...and the rest as well. AdAware ... Spybot S&D ...

Not likely.
How do I get rid of these invasive warning pop-ups?

Get rid of the trojans? Practice safe hex?

Sounds like AVG found the suspect files in your restore points and so
can't deal with them properly as it is a protected area of the system.
Where were they found? C:\_restore (ME?) or C:\system volume
information\_restore...(XP?)...

Purge the restore points, you don't need infested ones anyways.

I, too, found it unusual that AVG would warn me of trojans that it could
not remove. But don't ignore those warnings. If you havn't noticed your
system behaving strangly yet, you soon may.

Get the evaluation version of Trojan Hunter http://www.trojanhunter.com/
Get the free version of A2 http://www.emsisoft.com/en/
Get Stinger (free) http://vil.nai.com/vil/stinger/

Use all three to check for and remove any trojans. Hopefully they will
get them all easily.
