AVG 8.0 has been updated to 8.5

actually this version runs better than 8.0, it is not slow scanning, hardly
uses cpu usage and I do not see any hesitation on the webshield on both the
free, pro or Internet Security program.
Just remember you will not get it via your updater. Only the other pro
versions will see it this way. You will have no choice but to download the
program and do it with add/remove components, and in this case you are
"adding"

Well this was a surprise Robin - AVG8.5 came through the updater today
after all. There no mention of the 8.5 upgrade - it just told me there were
a heap of program module updates of the type I've had before - so I told it
to go ahead, and after it finished I had AVG 8.5!!

No mention of the new extra identity protection so far - though as you
pointed out, that seems to be independent of the suite.

that is strange- you do not have the extra icon for it? it will sit right
next to the avg one on the right bottom of your task bar.
you should since you are running internet security version
your version should be now 8.5.284
if it is not try click on "updates now" and see if it comes in
robin

Definitely no extra icon in the system tray, though my version is showing as
8.5.284, as you say Robin.

I just did an update check, but nothing else is on offer.

I've had 8.5 and updated since mine says .278. Still does. Maybe
computer needs to be rebooted?

There is another Program update AVG 8.5.284
You will notice a yellow triangle on top of the avg icon in the lower right
taskbar
please reboot your computer to finish this upgrade

If you do not have this version you need to click on "update now" to get it

I updated to AVG 8.5 about a week ago. Today I got a notice that the update
has been completed and I must reboot. My version now is 8.5.285.

AVG has only one icon in the "system tray," unless it is scanning. The
scanner has its own icon.

My free version downloaded .280 just now, tho it doesn't show yet
probably because I haven't rebooted.

though). Still no sign of the extra identity crisis bit though.

the two icons is only for AVG Internet Security
It is not for AVG free, AVG antivirus, AVG antivirus with firewall
the second icon is the identity protection program

Oh, that icon, with the ID on it. When it scans, there is another icon yet,
the regular AVG icon.
